Principles

Mission Statement
The Peer Recovery Center is to
provide a safe environment where
shared experience leads to
empowerment, respect and a sense
of wellness. Peer recovery is
accomplished through peers giving
and receiving help/support based on
the principles of Recovery Education:
Hope, Personal Responsibility,
Understanding, Self-Advocacy,
Education, and Support.

Objective
A Center created by and for
consumers for the purpose of
having a place where peers
can find understanding and
respect through healing,
trusting relationships with
the goal of recovery.

Hope
Recovery is possible. Hope helps us to recover.

Personal Responsibility
To be an active participant and take
responsibility for our treatment and healing.

Understanding
To feel compassion for others and ourselves
while understanding feelings and needs.

Self-Advocacy
Learning assertive skills to advocate for
personal needs in order to have a voice.

Education
Develop skills for recovery. Learn what
motivates us. We're people with needs. Once
we get away from the stigma of a label we
have hope for recovery.

Support
Where people can come together and learn
how to meet their needs through active
participation in developing programs and
activities to facilitate treatment, healing, and
provide skills leading to recovery. Provide
support and understanding for recovery.
